Remember when we were free?...

On Sunday, it was Mother’s Day. A moment to be thankful and celebrate in spite of the situation the world is facing right now. A card, flowers from the garden and pancakes for breakfast made the perfect improvised presents and we had planned a picnic and a search for bluebells. Turns out we were too early for bluebells…

We headed on a short drive to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens and were glad that there wasn’t too many people and a strict 2m physical distancing was being taken seriously. We greeted people with a smile. We wandered. We did a maze. Had picnic at one of the well distanced tables in the gardens. We toasted marshmallows and found the yeti (see if you can spot him in the woods below). Even just a few days days later, I’m filled with nostalgia for these simple pleasures and perfect moments.

I’m grateful the parks are still open and I could go for a run today. I’m glad the weather is changing and the air is brighter on these difficult days and I’m delighted that in spite of it all, the stripped trees and buds are still blossoming and opening as it should. Nature feels so powerful right now. I wonder if it’s coincidence that I crave being close to Mother Nature on Mother’s Day?

Let these images help you meditate, reminisce or journal in the beauty of the everyday that we’ve been taking for granted for too long. On our short walks take notice of nature, it’s patterns and ever-changing state.

Wishing you good health and a calm mind for the days and weeks to come,

D x
